Base and top coats – the foundation of hybrid and gel manicures

Base and top coats are two essential products for hybrid and gel manicures, ensuring a long-lasting, high-quality result. Choosing the right ones determines not only the appearance of the manicure but also its durability and the condition of the nail plate.

The base coat is applied to the prepared nail plate before the colored polish. It ensures good adhesion of the colored polish, protects the nail plate from staining, and extends the longevity of the manicure. Depending on the type, the base coat can additionally strengthen, nourish, or smooth the nail surface.

The top coat is applied as the final layer over the cured colored polish. It protects the color from mechanical damage, provides the desired surface finish—glossy, matte, or semi-gloss—and seals the entire manicure. A high-quality top coat significantly extends the manicure’s longevity and preserves the color’s intensity.

When used with hybrid polishes, the base and top coats are cured under a UV or LED lamp.
